Okay, so we all know about the debacle that brewed over the past week regarding who would host the legendary Tonight Show, what time it would be on, and what the hell was going to happen to Conan O’Brien. Now, I haven’t posted most about it because I believed that it all the little tidbits we would be hearing over the next week were going to be a mixture of truth and rumors.
Well, now the dust has finally looked like it has settled and we have a definitive answers to all those aforementioned questions.
Part of this deal, I will say, is f**ked up and O’Brien is getting the shaft…but he’s walking away with a lot of dough, if that’s any consolation prize. Okay, here’s what’s going down, according to new reports hitting the interwebs:
Jay Leno’s primetime show has been canceled and will no longer air at 10 o’clock. Rumors began swirling that the show would move to a shorter, half hour version at 11:35 P.M, but that proved to be not true. Conan O’Brien will lost the host position over at the Tonight Show and Jay Leno will take the reins again. But even though Conan is getting the shaft, he isn’t leaving empty handed.
He’s getting more than $40 million to leave the Tonight Show desk. Whoa. But in the end it does suck that Conan moved his entire family from New York (and the crew had families too, don’t forget) and now, 7 months later, he’s out a job.
Sucks to be him. And people were wondering, who did I support in this whole debacle?? Well, I was/am on Team….Leno. Always have been, always will be. We must remember that this guy didn’t want to leave the Tonight Show in the first place. It wasn’t like he was retiring or anything. And plus, he was funny. I always thought he was funnier than O’Brien.
